THE PROCESS
The work begins with a rangy, line that swirls visibly underlying all the portraits.  People emerge gradually during the meditative several hours required to produce one.  With innumerable subtle distinctions such as curve of the cheekbones, shape of the eyes, position of the mouth, every stroke of the pen pursues the image of an individual.  As in life, each is unique while possessing all the typical requisite features.
The slide show at left shows how the dizzying array of strokes ultimately coalesces into the portrait of a seemingly feeling, breathing person.
Famly of Humans, deliberately minus adornment and presented without context, makes a purposeful statement about the futility of bias based on appearance.
